UBS uses business capability modeling for the development and definition of business architectures. Business capabilities abstract technologies, processes and organizational structures – they are an ideal catalyst to focus on what a business requires and provides. Business capabilities tend to be stable over long time making them an ideal base for further analysis and design work.
UBS and Montages have formalized and improved these models using EMF and OCL. By using EMF it was possible to explore different modeling approaches in a very short time and to understand their advantages and drawbacks in theory and practice.
