Guy Genilloud, an expert in modeling and standardization, joins Montages as a Senior Consultant. His first assignment at Montages will be to expand and validate the modeling techniques, methodology, and tool support for the analysis and design of financial systems, services and communications, in compliance with ISO 20022 and related standards.

Guy holds a PhD of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, ETHL in German), and an M.S. from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
As a consultant and ITU delegate of the Swiss PTT for the development of the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Messaging recommendations (X.435), Guy was the initiator of and a major contributor to a European agreement for EDI over X.400. He was then the Swiss representative to ISO on the development of the Open Distributed Processing- Basic Reference Model (IS 10746, known as RM-ODP). Guy was also an author of the 3C (Clear, Clean, Concise) submission to the UML 2.0 RFPs of the Object Management Group.

As a senior business analyst and functional architect, Guy has mostly worked for financial institutions and major American banks on Wall Street. In particular, he developed the analysis and use case models of the largest American exchange system for government securities. He also worked on the decomposition of that system in functional components, and specified the services and the interworking of the core components (Clearing and Settlement Engine, Positions Manager, etc.).

For a major international software and financial services company, Guy conceived a requirements engineering method based on the decomposition of business processes, and their relation with use cases. This method had multiple analogies with the current BPM/SOA approach.

Professor of software engineering at the Carlos III University in Madrid, Guy has taught project management (according to the ESA and IEEE standards), and object-oriented methods of analysis and design (UML, RUP, multi-tier architectures, etc).

Over the years, and particularly during his work on the RM-ODP, Guy has learned on the importance of clear models for making the right system right. This implies using appropriate modeling techniques: simple, consistent, and with intuitive semantics. More particularly, it requires using viewpoint models (such as ODP’s Enterprise, Information, Computational, Engineering and Technology viewpoints) for separating the concerns, and decomposition for handling size and complexity one diagram at a time.

Guy has written a number of academic publications on modeling, mostly to clarify the semantic of important modeling concepts, such as use case, relationship, joint action, role, and common business object.

Guy is keen to bring his expertise to enhance Montages modeling tools, and to use model transformation techniques to establish formal correspondences between viewpoint models.
